Dear 4-H LEADS Afterschool Parents/Guardians:

We are excited about the upcoming Ashe County 4-H Afterschool program year. North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Ashe County 4-H is excited to announce that they have received the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant from the Department of Public Instruction for another year with decreased funding. The mission of the grant is to develop the whole child through; academics, social well being, personal enrichment, community relationships, while providing a safe and nurturing environment with many choices. The 4-H LEADS 21st Century Community Learning Center Afterschool Program will be available for an annual fee of $40.00 (if paid before Labor Day and $50.00 if paid after Labor Day).

Youth will have opportunities to participate in tutoring, homework assistance, clubs, learning stations and physical activities which will support and enhance what they are learning in the classroom.

An enrollment packet must be completed before students can attend the program (to include copy of studentís immunization records, doctorís phone numbers (dentist and family doctor), and proof of insurance). Children will not be considered enrolled in the program until the enrollment packet is complete.

A requirement of the 21st Century Community Learning Center grant is that 4-H LEADS Afterschool participants attend the afterschool program from 3:15 p.m.ó4:15 p.m. for tutoring/homework assistance for 3-5 days per week (minimum of 30 days for school year). Adhering to this requirement will assist in the continuation of Ashe County 4-H receiving the grant funds and no fees being charged to the parents.

North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Ashe County 4-H is excited about this opportunity to serve the youth and families of Ashe County. You and your children are important to us. It is our desire to work with you and your child to provide a safe, nurturing learning environment and provide quality programming.
